Affliction Warlock leveling build (level 40)

This is a classic level-40 Affliction solo build: Improved Corruption makes your main DoT instant, Fel Concentration lets you keep channeling through hits, Siphon Life plus Shadow Mastery turns Shadow damage into both pressure and sustain, and Dark Pact gives the build its low-downtime identity. Improved Life Tap and Improved Drain Soul support the same plan: convert health and pet mana into more casting while your drains and DoTs keep you alive.

The gear leans hard into spell and Shadow damage without ignoring stamina. Spellpower Goggles Xtreme, Robe of the Magi, Dryad’s Wrist Bindings, Dreamweave Gloves, Defiler’s Cloth Girdle and Staff of Jordan are the largest general spell-damage pieces available here. Shadoweave Pants, Underworld Band and Lady Falther’ess’ Finger specifically boost your Shadow toolkit. Defiler’s Cloth Boots are especially valuable while leveling because the run speed helps every quest, pull and escape. Rune of Perfection is the offensive trinket pick, while Rune of Duty adds passive stamina and recovery.

Play by keeping Demon Armor up, sending your pet first, then applying Haunt, Curse of Agony, Corruption and Siphon Life. Against normal mobs, DoT and drain; use Shadow Bolt mainly when mana is high or you have breathing room. Drain Soul low-health enemies to trigger your regeneration talent and collect shards. If several mobs arrive, Howl of Terror to stabilize, Fear a dangerous target, and only use Rain of Fire when enemies are safely controlled or on your pet. For the smoothest leveling, chain-pull with DoTs and use Dark Pact between pulls so you spend less time drinking.
