1. Main

   MMO

   The character you actually play and raid on.

   “My main's a warrior, alts are for the auction house.”

2. Main spec

   WoW

   The role you actually play in the raid. First in line for the loot that fits it.

   “Main spec rolls only on the tier chest.”

3. Main tank

   Raiding & dungeons

   Also: MT

   The tank on the boss. The most geared, most trusted warrior in the guild, usually.

   “Main tank has the highest priority on Thunderfury.”

4. Alt

   MMO

   Any character that isn't your main.

   “Levelling an alt while the raid is on farm.”

5. Cleave

   WoW

   Damage that hits a few targets near your main one, as opposed to a full AoE. Also the warrior ability.

   “Cleave the two adds while tanking the boss.”

6. MS > OS

   Raiding & dungeons

   Loot rule: main spec rolls before off spec. The default in most pickup raids.

   “Loot is MS > OS, one epic per person until everyone has one.”

7. Off tank

   Raiding & dungeons

   Also: OT

   A second tank for adds, tank swaps or whatever the main tank isn't holding.

   “Off tank takes the adds on Garr.”

8. Off-spec

   WoW

   A role or gear set other than your main one. Loot rules usually give main-spec priority.

   “I'll roll off-spec on the healing mace if nobody needs it.”

   “MS before OS on all drops.”

9. Reroll

   MMO

   To start a new character, usually a different class, and make it your main.

   “Rerolled priest because the guild needed healers.”

10. Split run

    Raiding & dungeons

    A guild running several raids with alts to funnel loot to the main roster.

    “Split runs are how top guilds gear so fast.”
