This is a control-first Shadow PvP setup: 5/5 Shadow Focus covers the practical spell-hit need against players, while 5/5 Blackout, Silence, Psychic Scream, and long-range Improved Mind Flay give you the interrupts, stuns, fears, and slows that decide twink fights. Shadowform + Darkness + Shadow Weaving carry your kill pressure, and the 9 Discipline points make your instant spells better while hardening Power Word: Shield.

The gear is tuned around the PvP toughness knee, not a glass-cannon set. The survival curve’s best breakpoint is around balance 50: about 1530 HP from gear, 499 armor, and 1304 throughput, only about 8% below max throughput. Pushing to balance 70 only buys roughly +260 HP for another sizable throughput loss, so this set stays near the efficient middle.

Key pieces: Defiler’s Cloth Boots give stamina, bonus armor, spell power, and run speed from Arathi Basin; Darkspear Warding Pendant, Darkspear Signet, and Darkspear Voodoo Seal add stamina and mana sustain through reputation; Black Waistcord, Netherpearl Shoulders, Black Handwraps, and Shadoweave Pants are crafted Shadow-damage staples; Advisor’s Gnarled Staff is the durable staff pick with stamina, intellect, and mp5. Play by staying in Shadowform, shielding before contact, applying Vampiric Embrace, Void Plague, Shadow Word: Pain, and Devouring Plague, then bursting with Mind Blast and executing with Shadow Word: Death. Save Silence for openers or enemy casts, and use Psychic Scream or Dispersion when pressured.
