Why it works

This is the classic PvP control shell: Scatter Shot from Marksmanship plus deep Survival utility. Marksmanship gives Improved Concussive Shot, Aimed Shot, Hawk Eye range, Lethal/Mortal Shots for burst crits, and Scatter Shot for resets or kill setups. Survival supplies the real PvP glue: Entrapment, Improved Wing Clip, Clever Traps, Trap Mastery, Surefooted, Deterrence, Counterattack, Humanoid Slaying, and Killer Instinct.

The gear leans toward the toughness knee rather than a glass-cannon raid set. From the provided curve, balance 70 is the sweet spot for PvP: about 3200 HP from gear, 3013 armor, 8% crit, 6% hit, and only −6% throughput from the best damage set. Going to balance 85 gains just 110 more HP while losing more damage and dropping hit, and balance 100 gives up far too much pressure.

Key picks: Cryptstalker pieces give high agility, stamina, mail armor, crit, and some mana sustain. Sadist’s Collar, Ring of the Godslayer, and Archimtiros’ Ring keep stamina high without gutting agility. Slayer’s Crest plus Kiss of the Spider is your burst trinket pair. The Eye of Nerub is an excellent stat stick, and Nerubian Slavemaker is the slow, high-DPS ranged weapon you want for Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot pressure.

Play by controlling space. Keep Hunter’s Mark up, kite with Concussive Shot and Wing Clip, use Scatter Shot to interrupt or create an Aimed Shot window, and punish casters with Viper Sting. When trained, use Deterrence, Feign Death, Counterattack after a parry, then reset distance. Burst during Rapid Fire/trinket windows with Aimed Shot into Multi-Shot while your target is controlled.
