Why it works

This is a raid Shadow build: 37 points in Shadow gets the full damage package—Mind Flay, 5/5 Shadow Weaving, 5/5 Darkness and Shadowform—while 5/5 Shadow Focus supplies 10% Shadow hit. With 6% spell hit from gear, your Shadow spells are effectively capped against raid bosses. The 14 Discipline points add Inner Focus, Meditation for longer fights, and threat reduction; Shadow Affinity plus Silent Resolve helps offset Mind Blast’s high threat.

The gear set deliberately avoids the test ring and uses real raid pieces. Soulseeker is the best weapon pick here: huge spell damage, crit, and target resistance reduction. The hit pieces are Cloak of the Devoured, Rockfury Bracers, Ring of the Fallen God, Band of the Inevitable and Neltharion’s Tear, giving exactly the needed 6% gear hit. After that, the set leans hard into Shadow damage: Ebony Flame Gloves and Fel Infused Leggings are especially efficient, while Preceptor’s Hat, Crystal Webbed Robe, Eyestalk Waist Cord and The Restrained Essence of Sapphiron carry very high raw spell damage.

Play in Shadowform at all times. On 3+ targets, use Mind Sear. On single targets, keep your Shadow DoTs up, use Devouring Plague only when mana is healthy, use Inner Focus before a hard hit, cast Shadow Word: Death as an execute/finisher, Mind Blast on cooldown, and Mind Flay as filler. If threat climbs, pause Mind Blast first rather than dropping Shadowform or DoTs.
